Rim Fire

On August 17th, 2013 a bow hunter’s runaway illegal campfire, The Rim Fire was one of the largest wildfires in California history. It burned more than 400 square miles  before it was contained on October 24th. I saw the smoke from as far away as my home in Oakland and decided to explore the results of the fire. These photographs are a record of the new forms and textures created in the fire’s path.
